10-Minute Chair Yoga for Beginners | Simple Daily Fitness | Saurabh Bothra
Chair yoga offers a unique opportunity to practice a variety of poses comfortably seated. This routine is particularly beneficial for those who are short on time or in need of a quick break from sitting at a desk all day.
Starting with a foundational posture helps in grounding your practice. Begin by joining your feet together and pressing your inner thighs and knees, anchoring your posture. Engage your toes by pulling them up while exerting downward pressure.
Initiate the flow by performing shoulder rolls. Roll your shoulders back and forth, ensurin keeps the knees pressed. This simple movement helps alleviate tension from the upper back, providing a gentle stretch and improving your shoulder range of motion.
To further stimulate energy, roll your hands along with your shoulder movements. Count to ten as you focus on the rhythm, ending with a moment of relaxation.
Chair yoga incorporates specific twists to enhance balance and flexibility. Extend your left hand to your right knee, applying pressure and engaging core strength. Repeat by switching sides, creating an alternating pattern to effectively activate your quadriceps.
Breathing forms the essence of any yoga practice. During the sequence, practice extending your arms upwards while inhaling deeply, followed by pressing the elbows back as you exhale. This motion facilitates lung expansion and enhances respiratory efficacy.
Lift your right leg and interlace your fingers around your ankle, proceeding with gentle ankle rotations. Repeat on the left leg. This activity offers a wholesome stretch to your legs, paving the way for releasing tension in the lower extremities.
Next, elevate your left leg and right arm simultaneously, then alternate to engage your other side. This coordination sharply focuses on balancing body dynamics, aiding in improved concentration.
Finally, unwind by extending your arms and carefully lowering yourself, letting your spine decompress. Closing the session with a Namaste restores balance and concludes this revitalizing 10-minute chair yoga practice.
“Breathe in, breathe out, and let go – the essence of calm and rejuvenation.”
